The first approved Post Test Trainer in Staffordshire offering Rider Assessments as part of the DSA Enhanced Rider Scheme ( ERS )
Enhanced Rider Scheme (ERS)
The DSA (Driving Standards Agency) have launched a new training scheme for bikers which has been designed by the Agency and the motorcycle industry as a road safety initiative aimed at saving lives.
The scheme is new and is designed so that riders wishing to be part of the scheme have to initially have their riding assessed. As part of that assessment the approved Post Test Motorcycle Trainer will complete:
A rider development record which is used to track the progress of the training of the individual rider.
A rider assessment form which will be used to detail the final assessment
If the rider is sucessful in passing the assessment issue an Enhanced Rider Bonus Certificate (ERBC)
During the assessment your riding will be graded and if you attain the required standard in all the 26 Competency areas you will pass the assessment. If you have any areas where your weaknesses are identified, the Post Test Trainer will record them; and following the debrief discuss your future training needs to address those week areas.
The Scheme has been designed to improve road safety and provide discounts for riders who maintained their riding skills.
Jim Fitzpatrick said: “The Enhanced Rider Scheme is aimed at improveing the road safety skills of the bike and scooter riders already on the roads. We want to help qualified riders stay safe and reduce accidents at the same time.”
