BLUE LIGHT LIGHT TRAINING
Acredited Blue Light Training for Motorcycle riders engaged in Emergency work, Paramedic, Coast Guard, Blood Transfer
This ASET Award is made up of two units; it is advisable that delegates have passed a recognised advanced motorcycle riding qualification (IAM or RoSPA) before enrolling on this programme. It is envisaged that the programme will be run over two days, covering various aspects of riding under normal road and emergency response conditions. Delegates will also have to complete several hours home study.
The units and list of contents are as follows:
UNIT 1. SAFE DRIVING OF EMERGENCY VEHICLES
• Behavioural Aspects of Riding
• Vehicle Checks
• Health and Safety
• Handling Characteristics of Different Vehicles
• Off Paved Riding
• Use of Legal Exemptions on Highway
• Introduction to Emergency Equipment
• Response Riding
• Patient Care
UNIT 2. LEGAL ASPECTS OF RESPONSE DRIVING
• Safety Management Systems
• Road Traffic Regulations
• Litigation
During the course the delegates will be given assignments to complete and written theory tests to undertake. Both units are divided into a modular form, based on a 1–4 grading scale. This will provide an indication to the instructor as to the progress of each delegate.
All materials are supplied by Minding Driving Limited. Instructors hold all the relevant driving qualifications.
